  1. Yorba Linda - Kellogg Terrace condominiums

I graduated from Esperanza HS in 1983
this site was cleaned up while we were in school
Big clouds of yellow orange smoke came from this site right into our school
We were ordered to stay in classrooms and gym during this cleanup
Everyone in the 1982-1985 grads were exposed
A large amount of the families of these student have children with a wide array of birth defects

    Water on the brain
    Club foot
    Cerebral palsy
    learning issues
    and child death

We need someone to open a class action lawsuit for all these students vs. Unocal

They should have sent us home

  2. This is ivery nteresting. I am a 1985 Esperanza graduate, I have been fighting brain tumors since 2006 and a good friend in my same class just passed away a few days ago from years of fighting cancer. We were both out on the soccer field when things got really bad. I remember the yellow orange haze you describe and remember commenting to him "this is getting really bad". I recently Google mapped our approx location on the field to the excavation hill and we were only 934 feet away from the dig just on the other side of Imperial Hwy. Anyother students out there dealing with similar crisis health issues should also comment here. Rocky, Thanks for sharing.

  3. Rocky and Alan, I am so sorry to hear about your health issues. I am an EHS alum and one of my classmates Melody A. Olson just created an Esperanza High School Friends Facebook page. Another alum posted about the former toxic dump near the school and now there are a lot of alum posting similar comments to yours here! Please contact Melody to be invited to join the closed group. Thank you & sending well wishes and prayers to you & your families.

  4. We are wondering if there is a cancer cluster in our neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano, CA, where many neighbors have had and continue get very rare cancers. The neighborhood backs onto the city dump aside huge power lines. The new San Juan Hills high school is right next to us. How can I go about finding further information on this suspicion to have it looked at?

In our small neighborhood, we have had cases of Lymphoma at 43, Multiple Myeloma at 78, brain cancer in two young women, one under 30, Pancreatic cancer, and more. On the street closest to the dump and power lines, all 5 houses lost someone and they all later moved away. The people in the 6th house moved because they couldn’t take it.
